EARJ SPONSORED COMMUNITY SERVICE
NHS - RASA (Rocinha After School Activities)- Offers English lessons to children from Rocinha taught by our students. They also organize a Bazaar where they collect used clothes for the workers.
Occasionally they organize a fun day for children of Daycare centers, and visits to hospitals.
SOS - Service Oriented Group – This student group currently works on remodeling a Community Center in Rocinha. Students are now involved in organizing all the books for the library in Rocinha. They are also working on getting proper uniforms for the different activities offered at the Center. SOS also does the Walkathon, which raises money for the Pediatric Unit of the Cancer Hospital, and the McDia Feliz ticket raises money for the Pediatric Center.
STUCo – sponsors the Workers’ Barbecue. Students organize a party to thank all the workers at the school. They fundraise to be able to supply every worker's child with a Christmas Gift and every worker with a household appliance.
There are other events which occur during the year as needs arise due to different situations, such as the floods in the mountain
area of Rio, etc.
